Sergei Mel'gunov (1879-1956) was a Russian historial and political activist instrumental in the anti-Bolshevik movement in the Russian emigration. Early on, he published on the Bolshevik terror and prison system and was exiled in 1922. He collaborated on numerous publications, such as the historical and literary journal Na chuzhoi storone (1923-28). In the present work, Mel'gunov lays out a critical response to another great historian of the Russian Civil War, Pavel Miliukov.
