[lithographic frontispiece] [2] pp 3-69 [lacking pp 5-8] A presentation copy of this humorous, illustrated volume tentatively ascribed to 1853 from evidence in the text. Ackermann's unknown editor has written on the title page: 'F Margetts' Esq - with the Editor's Compliments'. A similar inscription appears on the British Library copy and there follows through this example of the volume a pattern of annotation and correction similar to that recorded in the British Library copy with textual corrections in the same hand at pages 32, 33, 43, 47, 52, 63. Also written in brown pen there are numbers next to a few early verses and a wavy brown line in the margin top and bottom. Clearly this example of the book has the author's direct approval - and slightly apologetic amendments.
