Inner hinges with linen tape reinforcement (not unsightly and possibly original as we have seen it in three other copies), the map without tears and in good condition, a few minor handling creases, but generally in very good plus condition. 5.75 x 4.5 inches. Folding key map and large folding map at end. Original printed wrappers. The first official guide to the Adirondacks, by The Adirondack Mountain Club. Includes trail descriptions of the Keene Valley Region, St. Hubert's Region, Oak Lake and Upper Au Sable Lake Regions, Sanford Lake Region, Lake Placid Region, Heart Lake Region, canoe routes, mountain peaks over 2500 feet, suggestions for starting and Adirondack library. The idea of a guide book was first suggested at the annual meeting of the Club held 12 January 1929 at the Hotel Majestic in New York City, by Harry W. Hicks. It was agreed, and President Pirie MacDonald appointed the first Special Committee on a Guide Book, with Russell M.L. Carson its chairman.
