A difficult item to catalogue properly, but appears not to be otherwise available on-line or listed in WorldCat dot org or on the Passover Haggodot in the Library of Congress web-site. Overall Good, sturdy condition copy of the Haggadah Shel Pesach, an octavo format copy in stiff softpaper boards, printed, covered now in stiff Mylar. Entire publication in Hebrew but for "Printed in Poland" on front cover. 64 pp., with five black-and-white illustrations that appear to be engraved woodblock prints. Some toning and staining to front endpapers, dissipating. Printed in Poland by the publisher, Simche Freund, Przemysl. Neither author's name nor precise place of publication nor date of publication shown, but appears to be about the 1920s Rear pastedown showing short splits, else overall a remarkably sturdy and clean, however toned, copy of the Passover manual.… Read More

This is a very worn copy with 1/2 loss to rear board, partial loss to last leaf, partial loss to upper title, some fraying. First edition, 8vo (19.3 x 12 cm); four woodcut illustrations in text; original decorative paper-covered wooden boards (with some loss to decorative paper), partially detached, spine cracked but holding; leaves slightly stained and soiled, edges rubbed; previous owner's signature to title. Text in Hebrew, Aramaic and Yiddish. 40 ll. Scarce Ashkenazic Passover Haggadah.Complete with a Yiddish translation and notes in Wayber-Taytsch lettering, based on the Berlin Haggadah of 1785. The title page bears the printer's device of Rabbi Zvi Hirsh Segal Spitz and his son Rabbi Avraham (see Ya'ari Hebrew Printers' Marks 158). Zvi in Hebrew and Hirsch in German mean 'stag' - hence the printer's emblem of a stag. (Arjomarie-Prioux) by Atelier Arcay in Paris'. Text in Hebrew with English in Preface. Exquisite velvet binding, with gilt lettering and ornament, matching original solander box, slightly rubbed (520 x 425 mm). A fine copy. A modern Haggadah with hand-printed illustrations by Yaacov Agam: 'All colour separations were produced by the artist, all screens used for each image were destroyed'. Printed in Paris by Atelier Arcay, a total of 584 were printed of this Haggadah, numbered for three editions of 180 each, an A.P. (Artist's Proof) edition of 27, an H.C. (Hors Commerce) edition of 9 (as here) and an edition of 8 on vellum.
