Helen McCall (1899-1956) made a career for herself as the only commercial photographer in the easide town of Gibsons, British Columbia during the mid 1920s. All through the depression years, she supported herself and her two children by printing postcards and dping all sorts of photographic work out of her homemad darkroom with neither electricity nor running water. Based on a personal photo album made by McCall in 1930 as a gift to her friend, this book showcases a selection of Helen's photographs, highlighting the Sunshine Coast communities and pioneering spirit wjoch lives on to this day.
