Black cloth and red paper-covered boards with the regiment's insignia in gold on upper board. A Very Good sound copy ('Leon C. Foster,/Capt. C.E./0-1108666 to ffep; Captain Foster, commanding officer of Company B, is pictured on p. 247). The history begins on January 5, 1943 when the unit was activated (one of the first units formed after the draft had been lowerd to 18 years). Training was at Fort Claiborne, LA, after which the unit distinguished itself across northern Europe; the 359th's speciality was the construction and operation of the Army's petroleum pipelines.
