[18], 163, 252, 152pp. Contemporary full speckled panelled calf with large fleurons at corners, spine in six compartments with raised bands and gold decorations, speckled edges. Frontispiece of Hernan Cortès engraved by George Vertue, six engraved foldout plates, and a map. With the neat bookplate of mining engineer Franklin Wheaton Smith, designed by Robert W. Hyde. Leather shows some wear, front joint partially cracked, old faint stain to top edge partially affecting some of the plates, mild sporadic foxing, small loss to the edge of one of the plates, lettering on spine dulled. A good+ copy. Sabin 86487.; Folio.
