Tan covers soiled and edge points worn. Internally, end-pages are age toned, and slightly sticky from glue residue where a large previous owners bookplate has fallen off the 1st free end-page. Prelims are foxed but otherwise, aside from some minor age-toning and a couple spots of foxing sprinkled throughout, a very good, clean copy. The binding is tight and hinges intact. *Titanic related as Author was captain of the Carpathia, which responded to the distress call, rescuing 710 survivors.

Cassell, London, 1931. First Edition. Hardcover. Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. This is the autobiography of Capt Rostron who won such praise as master of the HMS Carpathia, when he took it to the rescue of the survivors from the RSM Titanic.. This copy appears to have belonged to Lieutenant E W Moulton RN as it includes an invitation card from Viscount Jellicoe requesting the company of Lieutenant Moulton, also a telegram dated 24 Feb 1919 and a hand written note which accompanied a gift given to Lieutenant Moulton from the grateful passengers that sailed on the SS Celtic Star which he captained in 1921. Also a Christmas card from presumably his parents, Mr And Mrs Arthur Inigo Moulton. Book - in Near Very Good blue boards with gilt lettering - some sunning and light marking to the spine but the lettering remains bright and distinct, light marking to the boards with light wear and light bumping to the extreme ends of the spine and extreme corners, light marking to the top inch of the extreme edge of the front board. Contents, some spotting to the title and contents pages and light spotting to some pages, slight marking to the white border of three of the plates i.e frontispiece and pages 32 & 128 not affecting the photographs otherwise clean and tightly bound. Size: 8.5 inches tall by 5.5 inches. ix, 278 pages. Illustrated black and white portrait frontispiece and 8 further 8 photographs. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: 201-750 grams.
