Forester is best known for his Horatio Hornblower series, though he also wrote 'Payment Deferred', 'Brown on Resolution', and 'The African Queen'. He also wrote short stories set during the Second World War, in which he fought and subsequently met Roald Dahl. In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, fine, with a couple of very light spots to the fore edge. Dustwrapper with light edgewear, and a tape repair to the reverse. Light tidemark to the reverse of the dustwrapper. Rubbing to the spine of the dustwrapper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Fine

Synopsis

Hornblower and the Crisis is a 1967 historical novel by C. S. Forester. It forms part of the Horatio Hornblower series, and as a result of C.S. Forester's death in 1966, it was left unfinished. There is a one-page summary of the last several chapters of the book found on the final page, taken from notes left behind from the author. It was the eleventh and last book of the series to be published, but it is fourth in chronological sequence.
