Following her first book, September Monkey, which told of her childhood, The Hour of the Tiger is the story of Induk Pahk's struggle to open a school for underprivileged Korean boys, designed to teach students 'agri-business'. The project took Pahk across the United States and Canada on a fund-raising lecture tour, and culminated in the opening of The Induk Vocational School for Boys ('Berea in Korea').
