The Hunt for Red October [Specially Signed, No Dedication; w/ Slip-case] by Tom Clancy - 1984

SIGNED BY AUTHOR! The TRUE First Edition, FIRST PRINTING!!! (1984, Naval Institute Press) SIGNED BY TOM CLANCY on the half-title page as Follows: "First Edition, Tom Clancy". This is a real collectible especially if you know the story. When the world caught on that this was an amazing book definitely worth collecting, buyers were confused as the true First Edition had no price on the jacket since the Naval Institute Press was not accustomed to doing so. By this time, the Book Club Edition was already out, also with no price on the jacket. Collectors were buying Book Club editions at high prices and sellers were "giving away" the true firsts. Finally, it became customary to list the weight of the book to differentiate. (The Book Club was much lighter, and had MANY other differences). At signing events, people would ask Mr. Clancy if theirs was a true first and when it was, he wrote this on the book! Very few have this distinction, I have only seen three and I am a Clancy expert. Later, he discontinued this as more features of the true first were more commonly known.

Now the book: All First printing points present. Full red cloth boards are Fine, Very clean, sharp corners. Spine is Fine, silver lettering in perfect condition! No creasing. Pages are white, no writing, no folding, binding is VERY tight. Page edges are Very Clean! Dust Jacket is Very Good. INCLUDES: a CUSTOM MADE WOODEN SLIP-CASE OF HIGHEST QUALITY! (If you do not want this, I can reduce the price by $85.00, just send me an email) Only six "Blurbs" or recommendations on the rear panel as is true only of the First Edition dust jacket. BRIGHT! No price as is proper for the first printing (Naval Institute Press was accustomed to printing only books for the Military and was not accustomed to pricing the jackets or books. Subsequent jackets were price at $14.95, then $18.95 and so on depending on the year of printing). Protected in a new, removable, custom trimmed, clear archival cover.
