HARDCOVER, bound in contemporary and first binding of boards and paper-covered lettered spine; bit dusty, spine frayed, small contemporary signature to first blank, also to verso of one plate. In a very good condition, untrimmed copy, preserved entirely in the original state. [AND:] II. Atlas. Folio (420x290 mm). Pp. (ii), 12, plus 18 full-page plates printed in chiaroscuro lithograph, exquisitely hand-coloured by contemporary hand. Handsome bust portrait of Franciscus Redi engraved on title-page. HARDCOVER, bound in contemporary half calf and marbled boards, corners rubbed, backstrip replaced with archival cloth tape; small old signature to corner of first free endpaper. An ample margined copy, preserved entirely in the original state. In fine internal condition. Excellent plates in the original untrimmed size, rather crisp and with fresh, bright colouration. ~ FIRST EDITION. Extremely rare complete set, comprising of the text volume and the atlas. Johann Gottfried Bremser, (1767-1827). German born Austrian helminthologist, physician, naturalist, zoologist, and hygienists. He began work as unpaid assistant custodian of the collection of parasitic worms of Karl Franz Anton von Schreibers at the Vienna Museum of Natural History.
