London: B. T. Batsford Ltd,, 1945-6. Octavo. Original orange cloth, spine and front cover lettered in blue, top edge red. With dust jacket. Frontispiece and 39 double-sided photographic plates in black and white. A very good copy indeed, a touch rubbed at edges, contents clean and free from marks, in the like dust jacket, not price-clipped, spine panel somewhat faded, a handful of small chips and nicks to extremities, else sharp and bright. First edition, first impression. Best known for his ultra-glamorous photographs of "bright young things", Beaton was commissioned by the Ministry of Information during the Second World War to photograph the war effort in Asia and the Middle East. His tour led to three photographic albums: Far East (1945), An Indian Album (1945-6), and Chinese Album (1945-6).
