Original staple-stitched gray wrappers; 174, [1] pp. With two folding maps affixed to rear wrapper (showing Eastern Europe in the 13th-16th centuries). Uncut and unopened copy in very good condition. Isaak F. Bykadorov (1882-1957) was a Don Cossack military leader and historian from the Nizhne-Kundriuchenskaia Stanitsa. He was a veteran of World War I as well as the Civil War, during which he commanded numerous divisions and attained the rank of Major general. After being evacuated via the island of Lemnos in 1920, Bykadorov lived first in Yugoslavia and later in Paris, where he participated in the so-called Vol'no-Kazach'e Movement. In the 1930s, he made a name for himself as a historian of the Cossacks and published the present title as well as "Donskoe Voisko v bor'be za vykhod k moriu" (Paris, 1937).
