180 pp. volume (42cm x 50cm) on the Dutch painter, with photogravures scattered throughout the text, accompanied by full of list of plates with page numbers and owners of the works noted, half-title, photogravure portrait by M. Van der Maarel. Folio. Vellum with gilt and blindstamp decoration. Edgewear, soiling, abrasions, some warping. London (Alexander Moring Ltd/The De La More Press) and Amsterdam (Scheltema & Holkema's Boekhandel) n.d. (circa 1904). Ex-Pierpont Morgan library with bookplate on pastedown. Jacob Maris belonged to the Hague School of painters, considered by some to be the most important and influential Dutch landscape painter of the last quarter of the nineteenth century.
