It was revealed upon his death that he was actually a woman – it is believed that he was born with the name Margaret Ann Bulkley. Barry was raised as a female, but decided to live as a man in order to be accepted at university, and to pursue a dream of becoming a surgeon. Here is the first edition of this volume, inscribed by both authors. Condition is good in a fair dust jacket. The contents are clean and bright, but the cover shows signs of moisture exposure at the spine ends and along the edges. The dust jacket is price-clipped. It has a good front face, but losses at the spine ends, wear along the hinges, and losses along the top edge of the rear face. It has been neatly reinforced from behind and is now protected in a removable mylar cover.
