Spine toned and creased, half-inch tear to spine head, spine slightly cocked, ink name on front free endpaper. 1915 Hard Cover. 409 pp. "K. is a crime novel by the American writer Mary Roberts Rinehart (1876–1958) set in post-Victorian era Allegheny, Pennsylvania, which has been a part of the city of Pittsburgh since 1907. The novel tells the story of Sidney, who takes in a boarder with the initial K. and whose presence leads to mystery.
Synopsis
The Street stretched away north and south in two lines of ancient houses that seemed to meet in the distance. The man found it infinitely inviting. It had the well-worn look of an old coat, shabby but comfortable. The thought of coming there to live pleased him. Surely here would be peace - long evenings in which to read, quiet nights in which to sleep and forget. It was an impression of home, really, that it gave.
