The Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flake Company was founded on February 19, 1906 by Battle Creek, MI Seventh Day Adventist brothers Dr. John Harvey Kellogg (co-inventor of flaked cereal) and Will Keith Kellogg. Kellogg established one of the first Home Economics departments in 1923 and hired Columbia University dietician Mary Isabel Barber and her 1st pamphlet was "The Food Selection Chart" (included). Envelope decade year is faint, based on the 1.4 oz weight of contents mailed for 4 cents, rate dates were 11/2/19 to 7/5/32. 1931 is only likely date as department was not established in 1921.
