The author touches on nearly every aspect of the sociology of reading, from the distribution of books, to their categorization and reviews, the propagation and training of reading, the importance of lending libraries, the organization and guidance of workers' reading circles, good and less helpful forms of reading, and much else. The three appendices contain: 1) a list of the most useful bibliographical reference works; 2) sample forms for analyzing books for library purposes; 3) the description of a sample poster to be created by librarians for the May 1 celebrations, complete with proletarian verse championing the Revolution.
