Camberwell Press in association with Royal Mail, 1999, only edition, published in an edition of 2000 copies; 150x136mm, 120pp, unnumbered and each consisting of a folded sheet uncut at the fore-edge and perforated horizontally at the midline; hand bound by Shepherds Bookbinders in charcoal paper over card and designed to mimic an envelope, all edges silvered; very small smudge on the upper corner of one of the blank pages towards the end but otherwise a near fine copy. *** *** *** The book is the intended outcome of the Royal Mail Millennium Stamps project and is a wonderful celebration of British art and design. 48 specially designed stamps, four a month, were commissioned from a range of British artists and issued during 1999. Octavo (9 x 6 inches) Richmond, Virginia: Jones & Cook, 1880. 92 pages, six unnumbered leaves of illustrations (one of them a foldout map "Showing Transportation Facilities of Richmond, VA"), numerous local advertisements, an index of the advertisers that includes four booksellers, among tobacco leaf dealers, horse collar manufacturers, and many other trades and services. Good condition (original decorated printed wrappers beginning to separate, but still holding, minor chipping, not affecting contents).

Under "Trade Notes," a paragraph for "Books, Binding &c." states, "The Booksellers of Richmond are all gentlemen of superior intelligence, and of long experience, possessing a critical knowledge of books, and a thorough familiarity with the needs of the scholar, professional man, and the general public."

"First edition 1969" so stated on copyright page. Davis partnered for many years with Leeteg in marketing many of his velvet paintings, over 1700 at the time of Leeteg's death, and becoming, along with Leeteg, wealthy during the Tiki craze of the 1940's - 1960's.
