Edinburgh: Canongate Publishing. Fine in Fine dust jacket. 1981. Hardcover. Lanark was written over a period of at least 30 years. On publication in 1981 Anthony Burgess called Gray "The best Scottish novelist since Walter Scott". Lanark won the inaugural Saltire Society Book of the year 1982, was also named "Scottish Arts Council Book of the Year. The book as since become a cult classic and in 2008 The Guardian heralded Lanark as "one of the landmarks of 20th century fiction. The book is in Fine condition, square copy with tight binding. Signed on the front pastedown; "Alasdair Gray 27 February 1981". Laid in is an Lanark book mark from Canongate, likely provided on launch since the date of signing likely also correspond to the launch of the book. A fine dust jacket, with very minor edgewear. Now with a protective acetate cover. ; 560 pages; Signed by Author .
