Good with No dust jacket as issued. 17-volume set bound in full burgundy leather which is brittle at spine but free of red rot. Sound bindings and hinges. Pages tanned but clean. Exterior for each displays bumped corners, general shelf wear in addition to the brittleness noted. Some volumes have tearing at spine. Each illustrated with a frontispiece of either a monochrome of a Southern literary notable or a color scene depicting some aspect of Southern culture. Each volume has 450-500 pages approximately; together they are a large, substantial set. ; Important set containing writings by many Southern authors. Arranged alphabetically for the most part, but there is also a biographical dictionary of authors, an index volume, and a supplemental volume. ; 9.5" tall.
