Folio,. 2 volumes, 1758-1760, full calf binding, gilt spines, raised bands, (vi, [2], 630, [2] pages, [3] leaves of plates; [2], 752 pages, [4] leaves of plates) : illustrations, preface signed John Jortin, t.p. of vol.2 is a cancel and is same type setting as vol.1, plates containg facsimiles of Erasmus' handwriting at end of vol. 1 and 2, t.p. printed in red and black, Vol. 1 has final unnumbered leaf bearing a Corrigenda on recto and pub's adverts on verso, Errata on p. [728] in vol.2, includes index to the two vols , at end of vol.2, 2 pp of facsimile of Erasmus handwriting at rear of vol.1, 4 pp of same at rear of vol.2, Ex Library with personal bookplate of Wrightson Munday Esq. of Markeaton in both vols.,( Wrightson Mundy (1715 -1762) was High Sherifff of Derbyshire). CONDITION: front cover both vols detached and rear covers down to threads, front ednpaper and t.p. vol 1 detached, 2 front blanks vol 2 detached, spine are worn, leather labels missing, edges of prelims toned , both vols, portrait of Erasmus by Holbein missing, covers are worn, spotted, Vol 1 has piece missing at top corner of one plate of facsimile of Erasmus handwriting and piece missing at lower corner of second plate,.
