Collaborators Nora Ligorano and Marshall Reese have worked together since the early 1980s. Their art includes videography, installations, sculptures and what they describe as "video books", several of which are illustrated here. The artists write: "For the past five years we have been working on a series of sculptures, which could be called 'video installations'. We prefer to use the term 'video books' to describe them. They are pieces, which make use of video in relation to printed media, such as newspapers and books. They focus on how we read the media and demonstrate that video and television, as vehicles for words and images, are texts to read and decipher. We expand on this metaphorically and have made book structures that incorporate monitors and video..." They then go on to comment on the individual ''books", their origins and the materials used.
