Top edge gilt. Pp448, pp440. Both volumes have tipped in vignette wood engraved proofs on Japan on to title page and 10 others throughout, as called for. Many wood engraved images within text and full page, throughout both volumes. Binding bumped at edges, hinges skillfully strengthened. Some light foxing to prelims, all illustrations and text in clean, strong order. The Japan prints are in excellent condition. A very good illustrated commentary on a variety of country sports including Trout Fishing in the Rangeley Lakes, American Sporting Dogs, North American Grouse, Hunting the Mule Deer in Colorado and Fox Hunting in New England.

No dustjacket, Bound in dark green pebbled cloth with gold gilt lettering and design on the spine and embossed animal head in center of front covers. All edges of binding and text block (as well as the corners) show handling and shelf wear but the covers and spine are still beautiful. Book is protected by mylar to prevent further degradation. The binding is tight and there are no ownership marks except for one small pencil erasure at the top of the front fly leaf. Pages show faint age toning along the top edge.
