Moderate dust soiling to the dust jacket, and a scrape to the tail of the spine. Dust smudging to the rear endpaper. Publisher's price of $4.00 on the front flap. In gray cloth boards, a very clean copy. First published in 1762, a medieval romance filled with mystery, dark dungeons, shipwrecks, abducted damsels, evil monks, and heartless villains. Considered by some scholars to be the first Gothic novel in English, a precursor to Walpole's The Castle of Otranto. Scarce in this condition. ; 161 pages .
