Bloomsbury: The Nonesuch Press, 1937. #74 of an edition limited to 950 copies. 39 cm x 25 cm, pp. xxiv, 44 (8 of which are musical scores, printed from types with a seventeenth-century provenance), [4] + 5 inserted full-page colour illustrations, colour vignette to title-page. Illustrations by Mildred R.H. Farrar were printed directly from linoleum cuts by the Curwen Press on wove paper and tipped in. These were Farrar's only book illustrations. Unopened copy. All edges untrimmed. Cased in 'simile' vellum covered boards with yapp fore-edges, covers blind-stamped with rules and arabesques, gilt-stamped spine title. Grey paper covered slipcase with an additional colour illustration printed from linoleum pasted on. Bookplate of the Canadian literary giant, Robertson Davies to front pastedown, else interior very clean and bright. Covers bright and clean, darkening to spinestrip. Uneven sunning to slipcase but primarily along open edges, slightly soiled, head and tail of open edges splitting at the corners, paper bubbling on the reverse, otherwise good and secure.
