About This Item

Tarzana, CA: Grosset & Dunlap, 1948. Reprint Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good/Near Fine. J. Allen St. John. 8vo., 312pp. plus 6pp. ads in rear. Sharp early G&D Popular Copyright Reprint bound in woven red cloth with titles stamped in black on front board and spine Only original 1928 copyright listed but actually 1930 with binding variant 2C with 28 ERB titles listed in rear ad, Dust-jacket variant #2, 1930. Square, tight and clean throughout with a touch of wear at the spine ends but minor. Spine cloth with a couple of shallow vertical crinkles and a bit pulled away from the top of the text block. Still quite bright and well-preserved. Beautiful clean pages. Very attractive unclipped, though unpriced, dust-jacket has a few shallow edge creases and closed tears and tiny nicks. Still a very fresh, colorful example. A very handsome collectable copy. (Lukes, "The Descriptive Bibliography of the Grosset and Dunlap Reprints", #27, pg. 286-287).
