About This Item

Edges a bit rubbed, pages lightly toned, pencil name and address on front endpaper. 1938 Small Hard Cover. 234, [3] pp. An adaptation of William A. Wellman's 1938 war film for young readers, with stills from the Paramount picture throughout. The film was one of the first Hollywood productions to utilize the Technicolor three-strip camera process, and the dogfight scenes were an impressive example of movie production at the time. Wellman was already well known as the director of Wings (1927), the first motion picture to win an Academy Award for Best Picture.
