Description:
Oakville, ON: Frederick Harris Co.. Soft cover. Very Good. 31 pages. This is a collection of nine songs for children by three prominent artists of the 1930s and 1940s. Harris was proprietor of a music publishing company, Smith was a musician and composer. Both are listed in the Encyclopedia of Canadian Music, though this book is not included in the accompanying list of their work, and seems to be quite rare. Each song is illustrated in black and white by Owen Staples, a painter and watercolourist who also did some book illustration. The book is in very good condition. The interior is clean and fresh, with no marks and very little wear. The blue paper covers have a former owne's name in the top right corner, but light wear only -- no damage or rips. An attractive copy . Contents: -- Santa is coming today; -- The elfman; -- The old red sleigh; -- Woo la ma loo ma loo; -- An idyll; -- Uncle Joe; -- Song of spring; -- Uncle Boo; -- Skating song.
