London: Dent. 1893-1894. Limited edition, one of 1,500 ordinary copies, complete in two volumes, quarto, original cream cloth boards with gilt decoration. Complete with all wood-engraved plates (20 plates, including 4 double page) by Aubrey Beardsley with his decorative designs throughout. Limited to 1,800 copies printed. Rubbed to edges, a little darkening to cloth as usual with some markings, previous owner's bookplate front endpaper of both vols with his ink signature front free endpaper vol.I, light foxing to endpapers but otherwise clean, uncut, top-edge gilt. Restored with original spines laid onto new boards with some loss of original to top and bottom edges. Contents clean and unmarked, plates bright. Very good condition. A landmark work in decorative books. The text is that printed by Caxton in 1485, in Southey's edition of 1817, and revised for this edition. Published in parts 1893-1894. Renowned for Beardsley's Art Nouveau illustrations. Limited Ed.. Decorated Cloth.
