Description:
London. Hard Cover. (London; Percival Marshall & Co nd circa 1911). Early Edition? Publisher's green boards with title in gold to the spine and front board and vignette of a motorcycle rider (with his motorcycle) to the front board. Green speckled page edges. 264 pages + 23 pages of index and contemporary adverts to the rear (including to the verso of the back cover). 14 pages of adverts to the front of the book. Difficult to date this book accurately but it is likely to be around 1911/12 as one of the adverts is for 1911 models of NSU motorcycles. Front hinge a little tender otherwise VG indeed with the all-important pull-out at page 56 of a "MODERN MOTOR BICYCLE AT A GLANCE". NB: this is an early edition of this book and not a modern reproduction. Created by Charles S. Lake, who wrote weekly columns in The Model Engineer magazine, the book was an instant classic in the early part of the last century. Photographs/scans available upon request.
