Double ruled gilt border on both boards with circular gilt illustration of Alice carrying the pig on the front board. Board edges with gilt ruled line. Gilt inner dentelles and double ruled borders. Multi coloured floral endpapers. Top edge gilt. Purple silk page marker. A bump to the top outer corner of the lower board, but otherwise a near fine copy in an attractive mid twentieth century fine binding.

Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (1839 – 1892) was a Japanese printmaker. Yoshitoshi has widely been recognized as the last great master of the ukiyo-e genre of woodblock printing and painting. Illustrated throughout with ninety-two (42 +50) fabulous line engravings by John Tenniel. Very good clean copy in fine leather binding of half dark green morocco for Charles E. Lauriat of Boston. Spine with five raised bands, each with gilt piping. Compartments ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Boards covered in Mid green cloth on boards, with the gilt stamp of Brooks School, Andover, Massachusetts seal on the front board. Top edge gilt. Plain green endpapers. Minor fading to the spine but overall a very good copy in an attractive fine binding. The binding is unsigned but is certainly the work of a master Bookbinder.

Aside from some brown marking to one page, this is generally a very good copy, illustrated throughout with Shepard`s beautiful line drawings. Finely bound in recent full dark green morocco leather binding, spine with raised bands, ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Single gilt ruled border on boards. Top edge gilt. Original dark green cloth front cover, showing Toad, Ratty and Mole, all in gilt, bound in at rear. ----- The thirty eighth edition overall, this is the first to feature the wonderful drawings by Shepard which haven't been out of print since. After his drawings for the A. A. Milne Pooh books, these are Shepard's most enduring, & endearing, illustrations.

Minor foxing and creasing to some pages but otherwise a very good copy in recent full deep red morocco binding, gilt ruled borders on boards. Spine with raised bands, compartments decorated with gilt stamps of The Mad Hatter and playing cards. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt.

Illustrated with 8 beautiful full page colour plates, each with a printed tissue guard, 104 line drawings throughout the text, plus illustrated endpapers at the front and back, all by Charles Robinson. Small bookseller label to the bottom of the front free endpaper. A fine and spotless copy of the book in publishers dark green cloth binding with gilt illustrations and lettering to the front board and spine. In the rare original illustrated dustwrapper, printed in red and green on beige paper. The red ink on the spine is faded and there are a couple of very small chips but overall this is a very smart example of the wrapper on a truly fine book. This first American edition uses sheets from the English edition, prnited by Ballantyne and Company in London. An uncommon survivor in such lovely condition.
