Written by a Confederate States of America general Joseph E Johnston, which includes a thorough discussion of the course of the war and its battles and politics. 133 page Appendix includes military orders, communications, other substantiating documents, as well as a brief history of the original of the Confederate battle flag. This belongs in every Civil War library!

Condition superior to others listed for sale--please review photos and ask for more if necessary. This original first edition from 1874 is a real beauty as shown in the photos. It is complete with only minor damp and foxing within. Professional conservation included re-backing with original spine piece re-applied as shown. Aged end pages.
