Walt Phillips Productions, 1962. Softcover. Very Good. Premier issue of Walt Phillips' Surfing Illustrated, The Magazine for Serious Surfers. Founded by noted surfer and surfing filmmaker Walt Phillips and "The Godfather of Surfphotography" LeRoy Grannis in 1962, SI ceased publication in 1967. SI's editorial board reads like a Who's Who of North Shore surfing: Along with Phillips and Grannis there was designer and record album and poster illustrator John Van Hamersveld, Australian surfer and photographer Barbara Walton, Dr. Don James ("The Premier Photographer of Surfing") and surfing legend Lee Peterson. James' photos were especially notable for having been taken in the 1930's, when the sport was in its infancy in California. Tom Davies at Malibu cover photo. Monthly graphoanalysis study guides and model answers issued by the Instruction Department of the International Graphoanalysis Society between October 1980 and December 1984. No issues published in July and August. Each issue includes a Study Guide for the graphoanalysis of handwriting specimens and a Model Answer for a specimen from a previous issue. Bess and Harry Truman are the study specimens for the December 1982 issue. The Trumans' Model Answer graphoanalysis is included in the February 1983 issue. Each issue is a minimum of 6 pp. depending on topic. One Graphoanalysis Worksheet included. 36 issues bound in a dark blue 3-hole binder. "First edition 1969" so stated on copyright page. Davis partnered for many years with Leeteg in marketing many of his velvet paintings, over 1700 at the time of Leeteg's death, and becoming, along with Leeteg, wealthy during the Tiki craze of the 1940's - 1960's. Called the "Remington of the Seas" by James Michener, the American Gaugin by Bernard Davis, and the Father of Modern Velvet Painting, Leeteg stands head and shoulders above almost every competing velvet painter, past and present, his Polynesian themes with beautiful, Tahitian women and, less so, warriors masterfully accomplished.
