A very good, bright copy. Finely bound in early twentieth century leather binding by Sangorski & Sutcliffe for the Los Angeles department store J. W. Robinson Company and with both companies names stamped to the inner front board. Full plum calf. Spine with five raised bands, each with gilt piping. Compartments ruled and fully decorated in gilt. Gilt decorative border on both boards. Front board with the tile lettered in gilt. Gilt inner dentelles. Colour printed floral endpapers. All edges gilt. Previous owners bookplate to the front paste down endpaper. Some rubbing to the edges but overall a very good clean copy in a pretty leather binding which is housed in a floral paper (the same as the endpapers) covered slip-cace.

A clean tidy copy bound, for Truslove and Hanson in London, in early half burgundy morocco, spine with a single raised band, dotted in gilt. Compartments ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Red cloth on boards. Top edge gilt. A small amount of wear to the extremities and some marks to the cloth boards but still overall a very good, attractive copy.

Finely bound in a contemporary full dark green morocco binding by Ramage of London. Spine with five raised bands, ruled in gilt. The compartments with gilt ruled lines, flower and star designs and lettering. Decorative flower and leaf designs to both boards, within a wavy line border which is surrounded by multiple stars, within a ruled line border, all in gilt. Elaborate gilt tooled stars, flowers and decorative roll borders to the inner boards with off-white moire silk endpapers. All edges gilt. Previous owners neat inscription, dated 1914, to the front blank free endpaper. Light rubbing to the bindings overall. Some of the raised bands are a little more heavily rubbed. Matching marbled endpapers. The text is a little toned but is generally clean. A very attractive set. Hardcovers nicely re-bound in 20th Century 3/4 red morocco with marbled paper covered boards. Five raised spine bands. Bindings are in very nice condition, showing only light wear. New endpapers. This the illustrated edition. Dated 1886 on the copyright page of each volume. Text is a little toned but generally clean. A few award cards from the early 20th century have been placed loosely within a couple of the volumes. An exceptional set with great shelf appeal.

NP. 1951. Oblong 4to. (11.5 x 7.9 inches). Beautiful calligraphic manuscript in red and black. Six leaves written on both sides on hand made paper, plus four blank leaves, all sewn in with red cord. In a fine leather binding of full dark brown morocco with bevelled edges to the boards. Multiple blind ruled line borders and gilt ruled panel with floral corner pieces to the front board.
