London: George Routledge And Sons, 1868. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Two volume complete set, published in 1868 and 1870 respectively. Extensively illustrated with numerous excellent engravings by the Brothers Dalziel throughout the text. Rich in anthropological detail, but written of course from a white European and colonial perspective. Internally all is in VG, clean crisp and bright order, with just very occasional and then minor foxing and a small water mark to the base of c.50 pages in v.2. Block marbled to all sides. Half leather with silk cloth boards, all rather worn with small loss of cloth to front board of v.1. This also a little loose, but otherwise bindings are firm and tight. Despite coming from the pen of prolific natural history bestseller Rev Wood, a good set of this work is scarce. 4to. i.774pp ii.864pp

New York: William Morrow and Company, inc., 1987. First Edition. Extensively illustrated with large and beautiful photographs. Square 4to, publisher’s original pictorial boards in the original decorated dustjacket. (30). A fine, bright copy. In clear, concise text and exceptional, full color photographs, noted science author Seymour Simon explains how different types of glaciers and icebergs are formed, how they move, and how they affect life on Earth. He also explores some of their mysteries: Can icebergs be used as a source of fresh water for dry lands? And will the ice ages return, covering the continents with glaciers as they did twenty thousand years ago?
