About This Item
NY: Greeley & McElrath, 1849. Periodical. Very Good-. The original newspaper, disbound from a folio. 4 pp., vg-; worn, with a few tears, along the righthand side only. Louis Napoleon has just been elected President of the French Republic. There is a travel article on Philadelphia's Fairmount Park, and an ad by Allen & Rogers titled "Ho! For California", offering "Preserved Fresh Provisions: Oysters, Lobsters, Meats, Poultry, Milk...hermetically sealed and warranted to keep for years." There are several more ads for those going to California, most of them suspicious-sounding.
