"EXTRACTED FROM THE NARRATIVE OF THE EXPEDITION OF AN AMERICAN SQUADRON TO THE CHINA SEAS AND AND JAPAN IN 1852, 53 AND 54, BY COMMODORE M. C. PERRY, U. S. NAVY". Japanese fish taken from Recent Specimens by the Artists of the U. S. Japan Expedition, 10 hand coloured engraved plates numbered III- XII with 36 pages of text. Clean brown publishers cloth with lightly rubbed/chipped spine head and rubbed spine heel. Gilt title on spine. Front lower corners slightly bumped. Light foxing on a few text pages with all plates clean. Bookplate of George Page Ely who was the husband of bookbinder Caro Weir Ely of Connecticut. Fish, Asia, Japan; Color Plates; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 36 pages .
