Description:
New York: J.W. Waring, 1914. First edition. Hardcover (original suede). Important--the suede suffers from typical "red rot" of this material, which stains whatever it touches. Keep the book wrapped up and away from paper or fabric. Poor but complete. The covers are detached but the pages are generally securely sewn to the backstrip, suitable for use.. 210p, many photos and ads for luxury goods. Disbound. "Containing complete summaries of all recognized horse shows held in the United States and Canada; official awards in all classes; table of championship and challenge cup winners; correct appointments in equipage for horse show ring and road." Valuable not only for the show results and indexes of horses and exhibitors, but for the many photos by Haas and others, including Lida Fleitmann [Bloodgood], Loula Long [Combs], and other women riders. Photo 2 shows the stables at Great Island, Noroton, CT, later owned by Bill Steinkraus. Lots of information here for the show historian! (Wells 5518) Reference…
