There is some very light foxing to the top corner of the front cover with some score marks to the top edge of the rear cover. There are a few small, light stains to the top edge of the dust jacket front panel with scoremarks to the rear panel. The edges of the rear flap are darkened & foxed. 150 pages. Unpaginated preliminaries & introduction plus 150 pages of illustrations by author-illustrator in color and black & white. Very good. <p>First edition.<p>The present copy of this book, gorgeously illustrated by artist-naturalist Keith Brockie, was given to Peter Matthiessen by his agent Candida Donadio. Laid in is an autograph letter signed "Love, Candida", sending Matthiessen the book and referring to "Brockie's beautiful, attentive drawings". Donadio's clients included such authors as Thomas Pynchon, William Gaddis, Robert Stone, Michael Herr and Mario Puzo.
