Nuremberg: Peter Conrad Monath, 1730. Octavo. 17, 1120, 320. Very rare. Only two recorded copies of the Morl edition (Erlangen, Nuremberg); none on OCLC. Second corrected edition. Introduction by Gustav Philipp Morl (1673-1750), Doring notes in The Learned Theologians of Germany in the 18th and 19th Centuries was important both for his studies in Descartes as well as Confessional Theology. In the four page introduction he notes that Nuremberg is fortunate in this time. There is a pastedown of showing Jesus examining the 10 Commandments (though the fifth apparently is missing from the tables) and below is a panorama of the city. The other endpaper has a full page of Professor Morl (the same as in the NYPL digital collection of famous personages). The following preliminaries list the entire Augsburg Confession (it was the 200 anniversary of its first appearance). Cover shows normal wear, corners and spine end gently bumped. ; Robert Brown wrote a number of titles where he uncovered hidden or secret knowledge of the scriptures, including issues of Demonology and Eschatology. This particular title is scarce, with no known institutional holdings according to OCLC. .

This Second Volume of the Works of Isaac Barrow contains Sermons and Expositions Upon All the Articles in the Apostles Creed. There is wear to the leather on the covers and the spine, and the front hinge is loose. The inside is in good condition, with the binding tight and all pages clean and readable.This book will make a fine addition to the library of either the religious scholar, the Catholic historian, or the collector of rare books.

1873 Hardbound leather with 2 clasps in good working condition. No evidence of previous ownership. Title and decorative art are in Gilt. Moderate wear along the edges, and top & bottom of spine. Back, lower edge of leather is torn. All page edges are in gilt. End papers look like they have been reinforced to the spine with green repair tape. Pages are clean, not torn and the corners are not folded. Sewn-in brown satin ribbon is in very good condition. Place holders for family pictures at the back of the book, which are empty. No ancestral information recorded. Bible is free of names and writing. OVERSIZE. Will require extra postage. Proceeds from the sale of the Bible are donated to our local library. Heidelberg (Germany): Johannes Spies 1st first edition, 1584. Hardcover. Very Good. Quarto vellum spined boards (probably newer using old material) Titlepage + Epigramma +33 unnumbered pages. Starting with a question, there are LXXXIIII propositions and Appendix. Some creases to titlepage and margin of one other leaf else exceptionally clean and crisp. *Sebastian Bloss was Professor of Medicine at Heidelberg in 1584, later at Ulm and finally in Tuebingen where he died.His most famous work was on the plague. Scarce - only 3 copies in German libraries none in the UK,but not in GM, Durling, Waller, Wheeler or Wellcome.

London: [No Imprint], 1778.. [2],73,[1]pp. Large octavo (signed in 4s). 245 x 155mm. Contemporary, perhaps original marbled wrappers, wholly untrimmed and largely unopened. Some offsetting from the wrappers to adjacent endleaves at edges, crown and toe of spine of wrapper chipped away, some occasional smudges, otherwise a lovely copy in original state. Second (enlarged) edition, after the much more modest list printed by William Bowyer in 1777. The entire work is an amplification, according to the subtitle, of "A Manuscript List of English Bibles, copied from one compiled by the late Joseph Ames. presented to the Lambeth-Library by Dr. Gifford ....," with "later Discoveries of several Learned Gentlemen ...." The identity of the actual printer is not recorded in ESTC. Ducarel was the first lay librarian at Lambeth, serving some 27 years beginning in 1757. While well represented institutionally, copies, particularly when in this near original condition, are uncommon in commerce. ESTC T96267.

Printer's mark of flying horse over cornucopia & hand from cloud holding caduceus to titlepage + same printer's mark slightly larger to verso of last leaf + floral, foliate & historiated head- & tail-piece & initials.. Folio handsome 18th century gilt ruled and sprinkled calf with 6 raised bands, the compartments & bands gilt but without a title on the spine (small chip out of head of spine/edges sl.rubbed). All edges sprinkled with red dye [8]pp prelims + 320pp + [28]pp index, publisher's imprint and large Wechel printer's mark. Some marginal damp marks to top corner but not affecting the strength and crispness of the paper nor the text. Name Fletcher to top of titlepage. A very few notes or marks to margin. *History of Louis XI & Charles VIII by de Commynes, shortened history of memorable events by Froissart and a further work, by de Seissel. Scarce volume of Medieval French history OCLC locates only 6 copies.
