Rare promotional brochure for one of the finest examples of Czechoslovak New Wave film, the motion picture by Jiří Menzel based on Bohumil Hrabal's iconic coming-of-age story, set in German-occupied Czechoslovakia during WWII. The film went on to win the Best Foreign Language Oscar in 1968. Illustrated with fourteen photographic stills from the movie, including two full-page portraits of leading actors Václav Neckář and Jitka Bendová. Also features a short text by Hrabal about his novella, excerpts from letters to Hrabal, and a short interview with Neckář. Photography attributed to Jiří Stach.
