New York: Paul Elder & Company, 1907. First Edition. 79 pages. Illustrated including a frontispiece and several plates in color by Merle Johnson. The Tomoye Press. 5" x 7 7/8". Paper-backed illustrated boards. A series of "yarns" or very short stories, including firefighting and baseball. Published by San Francisco bookseller and publisher Paul Elder, who had recently partnered with the Twentieth Century Press to form The Tomoye Press (which included John Henry Nash), and moved to New York after the 1906 San Francisco eathquake and fire had destroyed Elder's bookshop and press there. Alas, the experience proved costly, requiring Elder to move back to San Francisco and retire from publishing in 1917. Elder's bookshop, however, remained a San Francisco institution for many years thereafter. Some edgewear and soiling, and evidence of a sticker removal on the back cover; still a Very Good or better copy, now in a custom, clear mylar protective jacket. Always FREE SHIPPING via media mail to any United States address.
