Unpaginated (81 plastic sleeves, some filled both recto and verso and some filled recto only, some with several items per sleeve) presentation of letters, drawings, photographs, chronologies, newspaper clippings, flyers, and other ephemeral materials, printed on various types of paper stock so as to best capture the feel of the original documents, together with a signed color slide, focused around Shartis' correspondence to Galerie A from 1975 to 1993, and presented in conjunction with an exhibition of Shartis' work held from February 6 to March 14, 2017. Large 4to. Plastic sleeves housed in dark blue cloth archival box with three-ring binder mechanism. Amsterdam (Galerie A) 2017. One of only 50 copies. An individually hand-assembled and well-curated collection documenting a long correspondence between the artist and his friend and colleague. In his introduction to the collection, Ruhé writes: "Although my gallery was virtually unknown, Sharits supported me from the first year onwards...Sharits enjoyed being able to show in Galerie A what he described as his 'highly personal and a bit mad stuff'." Regarding their correspondence, Ruhé goes on: "Sharits and I hardly ever spoke to each other on the telephone. There was no email yet and we corresponded via letters. His were nearly all handwritten while mine were typed. He kept me well informed and, especially later on, the envelopes were filled to the brim with photographs, slides, copies, newspaper cuttings, letters and additional notes."
