BROWNE - Octavo, two volumes uniformly bound in three-quarter red morocco leather and marbled boards, titled and decorated in gilt between raised bands on the spine. All edges are marbled. The boards are rubbed with some minor scuffing to the leather and slight wear to the corners. There is evidence of early worming to the top and bottom of the joints. ix, [iii] & 517 pages; and vii, [iii] & 527 pages. Illustrated with 2 full-page frontispieces, an extra pictorial title to the first volume and 36 full-page plates by H.K. Browne. An early owner's name is penned at the top of the title page of the first volume and half-title of the second volume. There is some minor light dampstaining to the top edges of both frontispieces and the pictorial title. The text block of the first volume is cracked at page 515 and the last signature is pulled with evidence of early worming to the inner edges of the last several pages. Two signatures in the second volume are pulled, with one of the plates nearly detached. The edges of those signatures are a bit roughed. Good.
