Collection of photographs of approximately 150 different businesses and associations in the St. Louis area and throughout Missouri and Illinois utilizing Butler rigid-frame pre-engineered buildings, including manufacturing, distributing, civic buildings, small businesses, bowling alleys, car manufacturers and dealerships, and bottling companies, organized alphabetically into two photo albums with alphabetized indices in the front of each album, most photographs identified with a typed caption on a white adhesive label, together with a group of sixteen advertising brochures and letters published by the Ladue Supply Company of Clayton, Missouri, illustrating Butler rigid-frame buildings in use with building specifications and dimensions, and highlighting features of the buildings. 8vo. Butler Manufacturing was founded by Emanuel Norquist and Charles Butler to build durable preassembled tanks that wouldn't rust or leak. By 1910, they sold their first metal building, and by 1940 they had developed a complete line of rigid-frame pre-engineered buildings. These buildings had more usable interior space, looked better, used less steel, and could be fabricated and built faster with less people. The collection of businesses displayed in these photographs utilizing Butler buildings varies widely. Some of the companies or associations included in Missouri and Illinois are the Alpha Brass Foundry, the Anheuser Rambler Company, the Belleville Car Wash, Coca Cola Bottling, Cherokee Candy Company, Chatham Bible Church, Continental Bank, Church's Fried Chicken, Dellwood Bowl, Ford Steel Company, Florissant Valley Community College, Gushleff Distributing, Goelz Hall, Hundley Pontiac, Immerfrost Ice Skating Rink, Jeremiah's of Cuba, Johnson's Service Station, Lee Rowan & Co., Murdock Beer Distributors, O'Fallon Bowl, Oberjuerge Rubber, Royal Crown Bottling Co., St. John's Lutheran School, St. Clair County Fair, Tobey's Drive-In, and many others.
