First Edition, first printing; Demy 4to; pp. 87; text illustrated with numerous b/w. photographs, 2 full page maps, bibliography, index, original stiff illustrated wrappers, very good copy. The Virginia and Truckee Railroad claims the title as the most fabled of all the bonanza railroads. Its first rails were laid down in 1869 at Carson City and except for the twenty-six-year gap from 1950 to 1976 the steam trains have been in continuous operation.
