Linen a little soiled. An extremely nice copy. One of 350 (the first thirty were bound in full niger with a short supplement) printed in Perpetua type on Arnold's mouldmade paper. Portrait frontispiece of the author in Arab head- dress. In the Introduction, Philby writes ".the Arabs resent the tendency of the Christian West to claim, and by its greater military might, achieve control over the Islamic lands of the Middle East." The Golden Cockerel Press, 1943. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 191pp, no dust wrapper as issued, no inscriptions, illustrated, quarter bound in leather, binding by S & S London which is presumably Sangorski and Sutcliffe. Boards are very slightly rubbed with some slight spotting and very slight rubbing to top and bottom of spine. Text block is gilt to top edge and rough cut to other edges. There are no loose pages, and no marks internally, hinges are tight. Overall a very nice condition copy with comparatively little wear. Please do not hesitate to ask for photos if interested. Heavy book, please inquire for postage outside the UK.
