Mathews; Boston, Copeland & Day, 1895, 8vo, pp. xi, 116; orig. iron blue paper boards, lettered dark blue at the spine. - Second (first 'trade') edition, limited to 750 copies for England and America, which was preceded by an issue of 25 copies signed by the poet. - Printed on handmade paper at the Chiswick Press under the supervision of Herbert Horne, who also provided a striking red and black title-page. - Very slight wear (chipping) at the extreme ends of spine; top edge dusty; a pale brownish stain on endpaper and prelims., not touching printed areas. Otherwise, and in general effect, a very nice copy of a scarce Nineties title, with a bookplate (C.C. Paine) to the front pastedown. - Kraus, Copeland and Day, 18; Russell Taylor: The Art Nouveau book in Britain, p. 70, illustration.

London: How and Parsons, 1842. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. George Cruikshank. 12mos. 322, (2), 315 pages. Two volume set. Hardcovers rebound in full red leather by Riviere. Signed "Bound by Riviere" in type on the verso of the front flyleaves. The cloth from the original bindings is pasted onto the rear flyleaves of each volume. Marbled endpapers. The bindings are rubbed, especially at the hinges, and the headcaps of the spines have some brief chipping. There is a larger chip at the headcap of the spine to Volume I. A sound set with some light foxing to the text. Frontis pieces by George Cruikshank. Rare.

Hardcover. Very Good. First US edition of his first book. Author's edition on verso. Some copies have ads on eps. This is the state with plain eps. Spine is soiled and crown of spine has some edge wear. Front and rear boards have faded some. Eps have tanning but book is otherwise internally clean. Front fly-leaf has small chip to upper right hand corner. Rear eps has some cracking at gutter but book is bound quite solidly. Small bookstore stamp on inside of front board.

New York: Brentano's, 1900. First Edition. Decorative Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. Hardcover/ no DJ, VG+ to Near Fine condition. NO publ. date- appears to be early or 1st Brentano's printing (there were supposedly three undated Brentano's editions, all of which were issued prior to 1901). Dark yellow cloth binding w/ extensive color floral motif on both covers, black lettering on front & spine; 39 pages + printer's statement- all printed on 1 side only; top edge of text block gilt (still bright), side edge rough-cut; 6.25 x 4""; red & black lettering on title page. Binding: tight, bright & clean covers w/ vibrant colors; very small corner bows, slight spine discolor (lettering totaly intact & readable). Old pictorial (etching of temple?) lawyer/owner bookplate (5"" x 3""), dated 1914, inside front cover. Bookplate also appears to be pencil signed in bottom margin ""Antonio Barone '14"".
